Across the bridge from New Hope, Lambertville has some of the best family-friendly breakfast and lunch spots in the area. Cafes with kids' options, a bakery that never misses, and a short walk back over the river to burn off the sugar.

What do we consider a good place for families?

Three things. The seating is safe from the road, so nobody is sprinting after a toddler toward traffic. Kids have room to move and be louder without interrupting the tables around them. And the staff actually pays attention to kids: a high chair without asking, crayons, food that comes out fast. If a place misses on any of these, it does not make the list.

Yes. Warwick Farm Brewing in Jamison has a food truck, outdoor seating and room for kids to run. Old York Cellars Winery in Ringoes, NJ has the same open-space feel with tapas.
